I saw your post about riders who have had a horse trip, stumble, or fall, and that you wanted to know their story. Well, here’s mine. I was jumping someone else’s horse a few years ago. Bert, the horse I was riding, had started to refuse in front of a jump, but then tried to jump it from a standstill when I beat him with a crop. We didn’t make it over the jump. Bert flipped over and I was thrown into and pinned under, and he came down on top. That was almost three years ago and I’ve tried to get back on 3 times since. I get back on in a few months, when I’m done healing. I had  a broken spine, torn muscles, and I have severe disc problems. So that’s my story.

—————-

This was probably two years ago that this happened to my mother, so I was curious as to any ones stories, not shortly after I asked for peoples stories on here, we lost our horse to what we thought was a neural problem, which made him occasionally stumble or fall. We will never know for sure why it happened, all we know is that heaven has an young angel, and my mothers best friend. Thanks for sharing your story, horse related injuries are scary, and I truly hope you get back on. I’ve been hesitant since my accident years ago, it really is hard to get back on. But it can be really therapeutic and help ease your mind in so many ways, and maybe it could help you out with your disc problems? I’m not trying to promote gaited horses, but I know people who own them, just because they’re smooth to ride for people with injuries. I wish you a good recovery girl, and thank you for reminding me that life is short. We’re blessed to be here, because anything can happen in a spilt of a second.

The Mag

So Jer & I went up to the Mag this weekend.

& I’m sitting in the living room watching this mouse climb up the wall, so we put out some mouse traps.

We’re laying in bed, and I’m so relaxed, just at that moment of really drifting off into a nice deep sleep. I feel something climb up my arm, onto my neck…at this point I think I’m dreaming. NO definitely not dreaming, I feel little feet walk ACROSS MY EYELIDS.

I do one of those breathe in shrieks as I brush the mouse off my face and sit up right in bed.

Jer didn’t believe me until I yelled at him. But he was concerned because it startled me.

Paranoid all night long that it would come back, listening to it rustle behind the wood stove.

Didn’t sleep much that night.

My picture Loving a Cowboy.
The original country lovin' blog.

A little about myself: I'm a Canadian country girl, born and raised. I grew up in a barn since the age of 8, and to this day I've never left my country ways. Currently, I live on a fair sized horse farm, off a dirt road in small town Ontario with my family. Photography is my thing, so there are quite a few pics on here that belong to me! I'm a 24 year old hopeless romantic, who loves the backwoods way of living. Just looking for my fairytale that's all!
